Future Champion Lessons

If you are looking to try diving for the first time, or you have some experience but have not yet mastered basic dives in all directions, this is the right group for you. This program is for all ages, but divers may be grouped by age.  The Future Champions program is designed to teach the basic movement patterns involved in the different dive categories, as well as basic diving skills and fundamentals.  The focus for this group will be to learn basic dives in all directions on the pool side and then on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.  The main categories of diving include forward, backward, reverse, inward and twisting (dives that combine both somersaulting and twisting skills). For additional information about diving basic please check out USA Diving’s Diving 101 crash course.  Future Champions Lessons will offer a fun environment where divers will progress rapidly.  This group may have regular assessments and competition to evaluate the progress of their skills.  The assessments will include the following elements: form, accuracy, height, distance and aesthetic value. Once divers have mastered the skills and basic dives in all directions, they will be encouraged to progress to the appropriate team level based on their age.  Check out USA Diving’s Rulebook, Subpart D for more information regarding Future Champions Rules.

North Star Diving Inclusion Discount Program – In an effort to make the sport of diving more accessible to all, North Star Diving has received a grant from USA Diving. For any potential diver whose family is receiving government assistance (e.g. Medicaid, Free/Reduced school lunch programs, food stamps, Head Start, etc.) that can show documentation of such assistance, North Star Diving is offering an excellent opportunity to try the sport of diving. Divers will need to have a 2025 USA Diving Athlete Membership ($40 plus processing fees). If the diver will be 18 years old on December 31 of 2025, there are some additional steps. They will also need a background screening ($30) and to complete free online Safe Sport training. 2025 USA Diving membership will be available starting December 1, 2024, and it will be valid until December 31, 2025. Diver will be responsible for 10% of the program fees, seasonal membership fees are excluded. The other 90% of their training fees will be waived and supported by the USA Diving Grant. This program is not eligible for any additional practice discounts. If you are interested in this program, contact Coach Jason Baumann via email at jason@northstardiving.com and inquire about the Inclusion Discount program.
